I have this (amazing) device which basically is just a record player (so yes it also just plays) but with an USB on it that you plug in to you computer and then you can record your vinyl with either the program that came with it or one you chose yourself.
It costs about between 50 and 100 pounds I think. Mine was at least :)
There are quite a few on amazon :)

Hm.. Maybe someone you know has a thing like that?
Unless you have a record company nearby that does that for you I wouldn't know..

im considering switching from cd to vinyl at the moment, so ive been looking into this
the cheapest i saw one for was 40 quid but then you have to buy the software seperately, but you could get it off someone you know, or you could probbaly find it illegally on the internet

I used a digital voice recorder a couple of times... The quality wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad either. And you don't need any software or anytihng, it just works as a normal memory stick. This is the one I use, I'm sure you can find a cheaper one on eBay though...

If your record player has a headphone jack then just run a straight 3.5mm audio cable from the player to the mic in port on your computer. If the record player has a bigger headphone jack, then you can get adapters to fit the 3.5mm one.
